Your coat will take up to 28 days; 28 days being the maximum, though it can be sooner. Sometimes your size and tweed choice may be in stock. The collection pages and the online shop will tell you which sizes and
tweeds are already made up.
If you have a special date by which you'll need your coat please let Eloise Grey know in the comments box when you checkout and she’ll do her best.
Sleeves generally need to be slippery so your arm goes in nice and smoothly. The main body of Eloise Grey’s coats are Hand Loom cotton. Eloise Grey uses a sleeve lining made from a modern fabric called Bemberg
Acetate which is breathable, biodegradable and made from plant fibres. She is looking into using Organic Silk but at the moment this is too expensive and would push up the coat cost.
Eloise uses recycled tissue and cardboard packaging. The garments are put into polythene bags as this seems like magic
to prevent them from creasing. Eloise is a little unhappy about this, but can’t find an alternative (yet).
The Ethical Hebridean Tweeds are a mixture of Organic and locally sourced wools from different small suppliers in the Hebrides. Farmers are paid a fair price for their wool and this sustains the breeds and the livelihood of the smallholders in the Highlands. The Organic Tweeds are from Shetland Wool from Organically certified
Farms. Each step in the production process (there are many) have been certified by the Soil Association and no chemicals used in the processing and finishing. For example, machines have to be cleaned each time. This is much more effort (but more satisfying) for each supplier and weaver and hence reflected in the cost.
Eloise Grey is open by appointment but generally Thursday-Sat but this is very flexible.
