Prepare to be inspired when Eloise Grey launches her first luxury fashion boutique, Upstairs at Purity, and opens the doors for an official launch on Friday 2 October; an eco-fabulous evening in partnership with leading ethical fashion label, Makepiece.
As ethical and sustainable fashion gains style credentials, Eloise Grey’s concept store carves out a niche in the luxury sustainable fashion arena, and specialises in UK artisan- produced clothing for women and men.
She will be selling her own prize-winning organic tweed ladies’ clothing, alongside other fashion labels that match her exacting standards of sustainability with uncompromising style and fashion edge, including the contemporary knitwear label, Makepiece and the stunning eco-silk designs from Elena Garcia.
The evening will not only be a celebration of eco style, but Makepiece co-founder, Beate Kubitz, will give a free introduction to the issues driving fashion with a conscience and will demonstrate how you can select style with substance and choose clothes which you can wear with pride.
Based in Todmorden, co-founder Beate Kubitz is both business manager and farmer. She has a degree in Philosophy and ten years experience running campaigns and activities for organisations including Amnesty International. She keeps a small flock of 70 Shetland sheep for their coloured wool.
Knitwear designer Nicola Sherlock is a graduate in Fashion Knitwear Design from Nottingham Trent University. Her final collection was based around bringing organic and slow-food ethics into fashion. She worked in Nottingham and New York, before setting up Makepiece.
The complimentary Eco Chic Launch Evening at Upstairs at Purity will be held on Friday 2 October at 6-8pm. Please telephone 01252 820055 or email contact@eloisegrey.com to confirm your attendance. Upstairs at Purity is situated at 20 Downing Street, Farnham GU9 7PB.

Eloise Grey: Upstairs at Purity
Eloise Grey will open her first shop in October 2009 in Farnham, Surrey. The concept store carves out a niche in the luxury sustainable fashion arena, and specialises in UK produced clothing for women and men. She will be selling her own prize-winning organic tweed ladies’ clothing, and also stock other fashion labels that match her exacting standards of sustainability with uncompromising style and fashion edge.
Many of her labels are made in the UK, often organic, artisan-produced materials, all of which contain a story and connection to the makers. In response to demand from customers Eloise Grey will also be introducing a capsule menswear collection. Eloise and the Isle of Mull Weavers, who produce her organic tweeds, were filmed for the BBC series, Tweed, showing from September 8, 2009 on BBC4.
Eloise works with designers who keep their design process on a human scale, that crosses counties rather than oceans, and which maintains a connection with the makers. Her customers want a product that delights them in a deeper way.
Purity specialises in organic and fair trade fashion labels such as People Tree, Kiyuchi, Komodo. Eloise is working in partnership with owner, Paula Beaumont, to create an exclusive luxury experience upstairs. The shop, at 20 Downing Street is on the main shopping thoroughfare of this wealthy town which offers many independent shops.
Farnham also has a strong connection with the applied arts with the Crafts Study Centre, New Ashgate Gallery and Farnham Maltings, one of the premiere arts centres of the South East.
Eloise’s ambition is to make this a hub for ethical fashion in this part of the South East. Customers come from the south London, the South coast and accessible for Surrey, West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire.
